The City of Arts and Sciences is the greatest recreational and cultural complex of its kind in Europe. It is conceived as a new window on Valencia opened to the world. It is located approximately 140 km to the South of Peņiscola, only a few minutes away from the historic center of Valencia.

Art and Science, important areas of human understanding, form the focus of this 350,000 m2 complex, which is divided into four areas:
- L´hemisfčric, which contains the Imax Dome cinema, the Planetarium and the Laserium.
- The ‘Principe Felipe’ science museum, which offers enjoyable ways in which to learn about advances in science and technology.
- L’Oceanogrāfic, an undersea town in which visitors can discover the secrets of the depths of the ocean.
- El Palau de les Arts, in which artistic, musical and theatrical events are held.


The “sun and beach” tourism of the Valencia region is complemented by this complex, which develops cultural and urban tourism. This kind of tourism is linked to the “leisure revolution”, with people now able to spend their leisure time having fun and learning at the same time.

The building is at the forefront of avant-garde architecture throughout the world, and is destined to become the emblem of the 21st century for the city of Valencia and the Valencia region as a whole.
